If you've seen a lot of science fiction movies about life outside the earth, then you're already aware that aliens are not that friendly. Because underneath their breathtaking exterior and gracious persona is a hidden agenda that is contrary to their promise of peace.  V, Scott Peters' reboot of the 1980s' miniseries about the world's first encounter with an alien race, captures this very premise with the introduction of the Visitors tonight at 8pm on ABC.

In the "Pilot" episode of V, huge spaceships simultaneously appear over 29 cities around the world. The 'humans' are shocked as an image of Anna (Morena Baccarin), the leader of the Vs, is suddenly forms on the spaceships above. She claims that her main purpose is to share the V's advanced technology and unite the world as one. The citizens of the world erupt into applause after her promise of peace. They are memorized by her beauty and grace.

The season opener alone contains a lot of spoilers that will lay the groundwork for the rest of the series so we won't be going into too much detail. But basically, you'll get an idea of the V's wicked agenda as Anna requests journalist Chad (Scott Wolf) to do an exclusive interview to make the Vs look good in the public's eyes.

Plus, there are other characters to watch out for including Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell), Ryan Nichols (Morris Chestnut), Father Jack Landry (Joel Gretsch), Valerie Stevens (Lourdes Benedicto), Tyler Evans (Logan Huffman), and Lisa (Laura Vandervoort) whose stories become intertwined as the Vs try to conquer the earth.

So far, reviews about the "Pilot" have been generally positive so if you're an alien-science fiction fan, then we encourage you to give V a try. If you're not an alien-science-fiction fan, give it a try anyways. I can honestly say it's one of the best pilots of the new season. Plus, Elizabeth Mitchell kicks some alien butt and what's not to like about that?
