The final episode of
V this year didn't exactly make a significant leap plot-wise but it did dole out several mystery arcs that lay the groundwork for the rest of the season when the show returns early next year.
Read on for the highlights of "It's Only the Beginning."
The RenegadesErica, Father Jack, Ryan and Georgie take the first step in fighting the Vs by looking for loopholes on their Healthcare initiative. Evidently, the aliens have come up with a V vitamin injection to supercharge human immune systems which can treat blindness and beat cancer, but not the common cold. The renegades assume the V vitamin is bad but we learn that there's nothing really wrong with it. On the other hand, the Visitors are planning to mix lethal injections with human flu vaccines. And the worst thing about it is that Anna is taking advantage of the media and the predictability of humans, knowing that any health scare will cause them to get their flu shots in large numbers. But the renegades are not without a solution. Ryan, who has also revealed to Erica her true V nature, blows up the warehouse that contains the V medicines but not before leaving the message, "John May lives!"
Valerie's Pregnant
Finally, Valerie isn't just a minor character unsuspectingly dating a V. She also happens to be Tyler's therapist and is now expecting a child with Ryan, who isn't exactly enthusiastic about it. Aside from what the baby will look like, I'm curious to see how this cross-breeding storyline plays out.
The Chosen One
We still don't know what the Visitors see in Tyler but he appears to be "the one," according to Anna and Lisa. He's also the first human to enter the engine room.
The 5th Column LivesUnfortunately, Joshua's right hand man, who is also one of the loyal members of the 5th Column, takes the fall for Dale's death and gets skinned alive on Anna's orders by none other than medical chief Joshua.
Chad Decker's Aneurysm
After covering a story on the V's healthcare initiative, the V's advanced technology was able to detect an aneurysm in Chad's brain. He's got six months to live but could get treated and could get past the long waiting list by making some sort of arrangement with the Vs. It makes me wonder if Chad really is sick or if the V's are just using his "sickness" to control him and the media.
Anna's BlissIn attempt to take away fear and apprehension brought about by the warehouse explosion among the Visitors, Anna decides to strip down and whisper some kind of hypnotic speech to the Vs all over the world. And it looks like it works.
Everything that happened, however, is just the beginning. While there are already 28 mother ships around the world's major cities, there are a thousand more ships coming to planet earth.
