Rashida Jones

Rashida Leah Jones, whose name comes from Arabic, meaning "rightly guided", was born on February 25, 1976 in Los Angeles, California. She was raised in Bel Air, California where she became part of the National Honor Society after being educated at Buckley School and Hebrew School. She is a talented artist, singer and songwriter who inherited her talent from her father, media mogul Quincy Jones. At the age of five, Jones was taking piano lessons and would play two part Bach inventions, doing it by memory because at the time, she did not yet know how to read music. When she was ten years old, her parents divorced and her mother took Jones to live with her. She later attended college at Harvard University where she studied religion and philosophy, and subsequently became interested in theater. Jones' acting career was launched in 1998, when she appeared in The Last Don. She later appeared in Myth America, East of A, If These Walls Could Talk II, and Little Black Book. In 2000, she landed the role of Louisa Fenn in Boston Public, a show she stayed with for two years. Her other TV credits include Freaks and Geeks, Wanted and The Office.

Kate is played by Rashida Jones in the new FOX series, Unhitched. Kate is a smart and successful attorney who is fresh out of a seven year relationship. She had just turned thirty, and she joins her friends Jack, Freddy and Tommy, whose divorce cases she handled, in starting over and moving on with their lives, single-handedly. Jack also happens to be her neighbor, and in time, they may find that they may have something more than just a brownstone address and recent breakup in common.
