Craig Bierko was born on August 18, 1964 in Rye Brook, New York and was educated at Boston University where he studied journalism. He also pursued his education at Northwestern University's School of Speech, graduating in 1986. His acting credits include his portrayal of Max Baer in the film Cinderella Man, a role he is best known for. He also appeared on Broadway, playing Harold Hill in the production of The Music Man. Bierko was actually the original chosen for the character of Chandler Bing on the popular sitcom Friends, however, he turned down the offer. He also had a short acting stint in the third season of ABC's Boston Legal. Bierko is a recipient of awards such as the Theater World Award and Broadway.com's Audience Awards, both of which he won in 2000. In the same year, he was nominated for a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award. His television appearances include those in The Young and the Restless, appearing as Greg, Murphy Brown, Mad About You, Ally McBeal, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Boston Legal, among others. Aside from Cinderalla Man, his film credits include The Suburbans, The Thirteenth Floor and Scary Movie 4.

Jack "Gator" Gately is played by Craig Bierko in the new FOX series, Unhitched. Jack is a charismatic and optimistic leader who never thought he would be single again. However, after his newfound bachelorhood, he is determined to be happy again by finding the "right one" for him. The Rules for Starting Over follows a group of friends who are fresh out of a break up and trying to put back the pieces of their lives back together.
