Being related to some of the biggest stars in Hollywood has not stopped Emma Roberts from making her own mark in the entertainment industry. Recently, the 16-year-old star of Nickelodeon’s
Unfabulous appeared in the big screen adaptation of
Nancy Drew.
The film follows the story of Nancy (Emma Roberts) when she and her father, Carson Drew (Tate Donovan) move to Los Angeles. It is there that she finds evidence about the mysterious death of movie star Dehlia Draycott. Nancy, who has a hard time fitting in at her new school, then sets out to uncover the truth behind the murder, despite her father’s disapproval.
In an interview with agirsworld.com, Roberts compared herself to the popular teen detective.
“I think that I’m like Nancy a lot in some ways but I would kind of freak out at situations and people more if they were the same situations and people that Nancy deals with in the movie,” she explained. “She knows how to stay calm and nice and I would kind of lose it.”
Emma Roberts also said that because she’s a curious person by nature, she believes she would make a good sleuth.
When asked which part of the movie she enjoyed shooting the most, she jokingly said that she loved doing the kissing scene with her co-star, Max Thieriot (
The Pacifier).
“It was kind of an embarrassing scene just because me and Max became really good friends on the set so it was kind of like weird but it was fine,” she told agirlsworld.
Kidding aside, the
Unfabulous star said that she especially liked the parts they shot inside the mansion. The scenes were filmed on the Warner Brothers lot, which gave Roberts and her co-stars the opportunity to “have golf cart races and mess around on the set.”
At present, Roberts is filming on location for her next film,
Wild Child. She described her character as a “spoiled California princess who gets shipped off to boarding school in England because she has such bad behavior and is sassy.”
The third and final season of
Unfabulous will air in September.
