According to the New York Daily News, the veteran actress will be leaving Ugly Betty for a Broadway production.  She'll soon be appearing on Sondheim on Sondheim, a tribute to acclaimed composer Stephen Sondheim who will be turning 80 on March 22.  Of course, being part of it all is an honor for the Tony Award nominee.

"It's great to be back home.  I love it," Vanessa Williams told the publication.  Working on Sondheim on Sondheim has certainly given her quite a trip down memory lane.

"The first day, we were sitting around at our music stands learning new music, and I felt like I was back in high school and college," continued the Ugly Betty star.  "You know, when you get new material for a new show, there's a sense of excitement that's like nothing else.  It's similar to reading a new script and not knowing what to expect."

But despite this new project, she still can't let go of her previous endeavors.  Vanessa Wiliams admitted that she'll no doubt miss playing Wilhelmina Slater.

"I don't want to let it go.  We still haven't recovered from the news," the star declared.

Things haven't quite ended with the ABC series, especially since there are more episodes on the way.  Nevertheless, Vanessa Williams is ecstatic about her upcoming Broadway show.
