It looks like it's uh-oh on the ugly. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC is making us wait a little while longer for the premiere of its hit comedy drama series. That's right, we need a bit more patience before we can see the dawn of Ugly Betty season 4. Too bad, it was a two-hour special too.
Last-minute reports have confirmed that the network has decided to push the series' season premiere from October 9 to October 16. ABC has been using the 8-10pm Friday block to air reruns of new series, causing this mishap to befall the hit America Ferrera starrer.
Apparently, ABC will extend the double pumping for another week in order to garner support for new shows that need the attention. Later, the two-hour block will be handed over to
Supernanny and
Ugly Betty. After it premieres on October 16, it will be moving to its regular Friday slot at 9pm. Wait, does this spell bad news for the future of the
Ugly?
Even though the season 4 premiere is a double hour event with an exciting new storyline for the main character, shoving the show to a Friday night might be detrimental to ratings. There's less people tuning in at that time, which makes it seem as though ABC's faith in the series is dwindling.
While there have been rumors that this season of
Ugly Betty could be its last, the writers are certainly getting creative for it. They've brought in plenty of major guest stars, from
America's Next Top Model's YaYa DaCosta to award-winning musician Shakira. There's also the highly anticipated Bahamas episode that the cast is currently filming.
Of course, let's not forget Betty's much-awaited makeover on this season. With that turning point in our heroine's life, how could they think of ending the show this soon? Still, the fans will doubtlessly hope that the series' move to Fridays won't affect the status of
Ugly Betty. They better follow along if they don't want to lose it.
