Ugly Betty: Ana Ortiz is a 'True Blue' Pilot Star
One of Ugly Betty's stars has already moved on from the series' cancellation, and her new job's a far cry from the comedy.  The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Ana Ortiz has been cast in a drama pilot featuring detectives.  We can't exactly imagine Hilda scouring the city streets for criminals, but we'll take what we can get.

According to reports, the 39-year-old Ana Ortiz will be starring in True Blue.  She's been given a lead role in the series and is still working with ABC for it.  Sounds like the network really is reluctant to let go of the Ugly Betty cast.

True Blue focuses on a former team of San Francisco homicide detectives, who are reunited to solve a murder.  One member of the group has been killed, and the only way to figure out the culprit's identity is to work together again.

Sources say that Ana Ortiz will be portraying a civilian secretary at the precinct.  She can definitely use the feisty traits Hilda exhibited on Ugly Betty to keep things in order on True Blue.

While the premise of the upcoming pilot reminds me of Watchmen all too simplified, I'm not sure how it can work for the small screen.  Well, we've yet to see if True Blue can survive.  It's only just been picked up.

Anyway, we're happy for Ana Ortiz.  She isn't the only Ugly Betty star who's been chosen for a series.  Since it's pilot season, members of the cast have been accepting offers from new shows here and there.

First there was Becki Newton with another comedy up her sleeve.  Who can say what America Ferrera and the others have in store?  We're sure the stars of the recently canceled ABC series are in demand right now.

But we still have to wait if we want to see the Ugly Betty stars on our screens again.  Besides, we're not in a hurry.  There's the rest of the season and the finale to look forward to anyway.
