Things Might Get 'Ugly' for Mischa Barton

When big shot movie stars get stuck in a rut with a stagnant career, what do they do?  Make a move to appear on a hit television show.  But Mischa Barton has always had a wonderful resume built for the small screen, so she'll just be taking yet another step to fame.  After a successful time on The O.C., she's reportedly starring on the ABC series Ugly Betty.

According to several sources, Barton has been considering returning to her TV roots.  The rumors say that she's headed to join the cast of Ugly Betty some time soon, most likely next year.  However, there hasn't been any final word on the matter.  The only story is that Barton might make a five-episode guest appearance on the sitcom, but her character hasn't been revealed as of yet.

An insider told The London Paper, a British news publication, that “Mischa's career is at a standstill, so this might be great for her. It's not a done deal yet, but talks continue.”  It would certainly impress her fans to see the actress join the ranks of Ugly Betty guest stars.  Many of them have been applauded for their work on the sitcom itself.  Barton might just be following the Ugly footsteps of Victoria Beckham, Naomi Campbell and Lindsay Lohan.  We'll just have to see if this does any good for the show.

Mischa Barton rose to fame as Marissa Cooper in the teen drama The O.C., but left the show in 2006 to pursue other projects.  The English-born actress then landed roles in films like You and I, Walled In, and with Bruce Willis in Assassination of a High School President.

As for the other stars of Ugly Betty, they're probably looking forward to having Mischa around.  The more the merrier, perhaps?  Next year, the series kicks off with an appearance by Hairspray breakout star Nikki Blonsky, on the episode “Dressed for Success.”  Don't forget to catch her as she portrays Betty's (America Ferrera) friend, Terri, who works at Elle magazine.
