While some fans may be disappointed at the effects of the production of
Ugly Betty moving to New York to film the series, the producers are giving them a treat to lighten up the mood. Now that the production has settled in comfortably into the new city, the show has been welcoming a list of new guest stars to appear in the upcoming season of
Ugly Betty. In fact, fans will get a glimpse of two morning TV hosts who will grace the set of the series very soon.
ABC has announced that Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa will be appearing in the third season of
Ugly Betty, where they will play themselves, and have a couple of Meades as their guests.
September 25's premiere episode of
Ugly Betty's third season will feature Emmy-award winning daytime television hosts Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa as they welcome Wilhelmina Slater (
Vanessa Williams) and Alexis Meade (
Rebecca Romjin) as Mode's new editorial team. Fresh from Wilhelmina's evil plan of ousting Daniel (
Eric Mabius), the hosts choose to pique the controversy and thus put his sister, Alexis in the hot seat.
Other guest stars this season include Lindsay Lohan, who will be continuing her season two finale stint, and Kelly Ripa's husband, Mark Consuelos, whose role is yet to be revealed, but is said to be playing into a major story arc and will tentatively appear for just one episode. Nonetheless, fans are already waiting to see if any developments occur for Consuelos.
In other news, creator Silvio Horta spoke up about the third season of
Ugly Betty during the TCA. In fact, he says that everyone must tune in for its return on September 25th, because “there's so much that happens in the first episode that sets up the rest of the season.”
Additionally, he reveals a little insight on Betty's internal rumblings, saying that she “lost some of the focus that she had when she started this job. She's going to make this commitment to do certain things and act as a grownup. There's going to be some big changes in her life.”
Catch
Ugly Betty as she returns to our TV screens on September 25 on ABC.
