Fisher Stevens Joins 'Ugly Betty' as What?
After the announcement of adding Shakira and Christie Brinkley, along with the appearance of America's Next Top Model's YaYa Dacosta, you'd think Ugly Betty couldn't get any better.  But it seems as though this season will be welcoming yet another big-shot guest star.

Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly has revealed that thespian Fisher Stevens of Early Edition fame will be joining the ABC drama.  Maybe this will turn those ratings up at last.

Possible spoilers below.

According to the report, Fisher Stevens will be portraying a new man in Betty's (America Ferrera) life.  Well, it doesn't exactly mean that he'll be taking on the role of a love interest.  But his character might cause just enough problems for our protagonist.

Fisher Stevens will be playing Mr. Z, the new landlord of Betty.  It's a potentially recurring role, which allows the actor to be as dry and sarcastic as he possibly can.  Well, he looks like a perfect fit for that part.

When the Ugly Betty producers began casting for Mr. Z, they sent out a character description saying that the show was looking for a "New York actor who could go head-to-head with America Ferrera."  Don't you think Fisher Stevens has that down pat?

With Stevens' casting, it sounds like this season's storyline will involve Betty moving out and living on her own.  She may have accomplished that last season, but she had to return to live with her father and sister in the end.  This time, will she be able to overcome the challenge of having the sardonic Mr. Z as her landlord?

Fans didn't exactly react positively to Betty's return to the nest of dad Ignacio (Tony Plana).  Now that it seems like she's moving out again, there may be plenty of hope for the show to survive.  Recently, it's been notorious for declining in ratings.  But with the array of guest stars and this plot point lined up this season, Ugly Betty may just find its way back on top.
