Joining fellow
Mad Men star Rich Sommer on the list of notable guest stars on
Ugly Betty is actor Bryan Batt. And what an actor he'll be, since he's going to take the stage and sweep someone off their feet for his appearance on the ABC comedy.

TV Guide, Bryan Batt will be portraying a handsome soap opera actor named Spencer Cannon. He won't be another love interest for Betty (America Ferrera) though. He's a more likely fit for someone like Marc, or at least Amanda thinks so.
Hoping to help her friend find a new romantic flame, Amanda (Becki Newton) tries to set up Spencer Cannon with Marc. They may just hit it off though, and wouldn't it be nice just in time for the finale?
But it could do well with lots more drama, just as Marc (Michael Urie) and Amanda can deliver. We're not sure how things will work out, but Batt's appearance on April 7 will be extended until the finale. Thing is, that would be the second-to-the-last
Ugly Betty episode anyway.
Bryan Batt played the closeted art director Salvatore Romano on
Mad Men, until the character was fired from the agency. The actor isn't under contract yet to resume his role for the series' fourth season, which makes him available to appear on
Ugly Betty. Wouldn't Marc be surprised?
It sounds as though the playwrights really are taking over the ABC comedy these days. The upcoming episode is "All the World's a Stage," where our heroine starts dating a young playwright portrayed by Aaron Tveit.
In addition to that, we know how many of the
Ugly Betty stars have a background in theatre. Even guest star Bryan Batt is known for his Broadway work. Michael Urie is too, and we're pretty sure you already get the connection.
