As BuddyTV reported last month, the match between UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and undefeated MMA fighter Shane Carwin has been postponed to early next year, possibly for UFC 108 on January 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The delay of what was supposed to be UFC 106, scheduled to commence on November 21, is due to Lesnar's illness--- something that has kept him from training for almost a month.
However, it looks like UFC fans might have to wait even longer than expected now that the highly anticipated fight has been postponed again. According to UFC president Dana White, Lesnar is seriously ill though he wouldn't shed light on the nature of Lesnar's illness.
"He's in rough shape, he's in really bad shape," White said of Lesnar Saturday after UFC 105. "He is not well and he is not getting any better. ... He's very, very sick and he's going to be out for a while. He's got a lot of problems."
"He's got mono and he's got something else wrong with him. I know what's wrong with him, he just doesn't want me talking about it," White added. "He doesn't have cancer or AIDS or anything like this, (but) he's got some problems, man."
At present, Lesnar is in the hospital but may have to go to the Mayo Clinic or another top facility "to figure out what's wrong with this guy."
"He's not going to be getting well any time soon," White said.
As an alternative for the Lesnar-Carwin bout, the light heavyweight rematch between Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin has become the new main event for UFC 106.
