For Mixed Martial Arts and
UFC fans who aren't wealthy,
The Ultimate Fighter Finale might be one of the best UFC events of the year, if not the best. It's free, for one, airing on SpikeTV. Second, it's always a packed fight card, featuring guys who are literally fighting for a spot in the UFC. It's basically one huge tryout for all
The Ultimate Fighter contestants lucky enough to get a spot on the card. They are going to try and impress Dana White and the UFC brass. If they can do that, then the chances of receiving another fight or two in the UFC are good.
The Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale will take place at The Palms in Las Vegas. It will air on SpikeTV at 9pm ET/PT.
CB Dalloway and
Amir Sadollah will have an interesting re-match for
The Ultimate Fighter crown and a six-figure UFC contract. In their first semi-final fight, CB dominated throughout, but Amir stayed alive and eventually caught CB with an arm bar late in the third round of their fight. Thanks to some behavioral issues from the other presumptive finalist
Jesse Taylor, CB got another chance to reach the finals, this time against the other semi-final loser,
Tim Credeur. CB won that fight, but it wasn't easy.
I'll be rooting for Amir. Nothing against CB, whose arrogance may have rubbed some people the wrong way, but Amir is a working-class fighter. There's nothing special, nothing stylish about his game; he's just a warrior. He takes a beating every time out it seems, but he just waits and bides his time, and seems to find a way to win.
In the non-TUF main event, Evan Tanner will face
Kendall Grove. Both guys are coming off losses, and it's a big fight for both. Tanner may be coming to the end of his career (he's 37) and Grove needs to get back on the winning track to salvage his promising start. Here's a list of the entire fight card:
Preliminary Card:
Middleweight bout: Tim Credeur vs.
Cale Yarbrough
Welterweight bout: Matt Arroyo vs.
Matt Brown
Middleweight bout: Rob Kimmons vs. Rob Yundt
Middleweight bout: Marvin Eastman vs. Drew McFedries
Welterweight bout: Josh Burkman vs. Dustin Hazelett
Middleweight bout:
Matthew Riddle vs
Dante Rivera
Middleweight bout: Jeremy Horn vs. Dean Lister
Main Card:
Lightweight bout: Spencer Fisher vs. Jeremy Stephens
Welterweight bout:
Diego Sanchez vs. Luigi Fioravanti
Middleweight bout: Amir Sadollah vs.
C.B. Dollaway
Middleweight bout: Evan Tanner vs. Kendall Grove
The SpikeTV broadcast will air every one of the Main Card fights, and some of the Preliminary Card, time permitting.
