If you saw the first episode of The Ultimate Fighter 7, then you know how the second episode is going to work.  For the seventh season of SpikeTV's Mixed Martial Arts reality show, UFC President Dana White decided to shake things up.  Instead of simply casting sixteen fighters and placing them in the Las Vegas house, White and company decided to make the contestants fight their way onto the show.  The Ultimate Fighter began with 32 fighters and, over the course of the first two episode, we were treated to 16 separate fights.  With coaches Rampage Jackson and Forrest Griffin watching with Dana White, last night's episode brought us the final eight fights of the preliminary rounds.

Dan Simmler vs. Matthew Riddle

Both of these guys are relatively inexperienced, though Simmler has trained with UFC champion Matt Serra.  The first round is mostly Riddle dominating the action, landing some strikes, but also spending a lot of time on the ground.  In the second round comes perhaps the most brutal knockout in The Ultimate Fighter's history.  Riddle lands a monster right hook at the beginning of the second round, and Simmler is out.  When he wakes up, he has no idea he was in a fight.  He's taken to the hospital in an ambulance. 

Luke Zachrich vs. Patrick Schultz

Both relatively experienced fighters, but Zachrich is in a different class.  He dominates the fight and ends it quickly with a rear-naked choke. 

Timothy Credeur vs. Erik Charles

Credeur makes this the quickest fight of the episode.  He takes Charles to the ground and almost immediately gets an arm bar tap out. 


For the next few fights, we see only the highlights:

Brandon Sene vs. Aaron Meisner

Sene chokes Meisner out fairly easily, even after Rampage decides to give Meisner advice in the middle of the fight. 

Mike Marrello vs. Gerald Harris

We only see the highlights, and Harris wins by decision, but it looks as if he completely dominated the fight. 

Daniel Cramer vs. Jeremiah Riggs

Riggs gives maybe the best performance from a loser this episode.  Cramer wins in the second round after a stoppage. 

Nick Rossborough vs. Jesse Taylor

Taylor wins the battle of the veterans with a rear naked choke. 

Josh Hall vs. Matt Brown

Rampage knows Hall and openly roots for him.  However, Brown is an animal.  He wins after a stoppage in the waning seconds of the first round.
