Mac Danzig appears as one of the competing fighters in the Spike TV network’s mixed martial arts contest reality series The Ultimate Fighter: Team Hughes vs. Team Serra. He is 27 years old and has an MMA record 17-4-1. Danzig originally hails from Pittsburgh, PA, though he underwent most of his training in Los Angeles, CA. He is considered to be one of the most experienced challengers in The Ultimate Fighter, having participated in more than twenty professional matches. During his teenage years, Danzig studied at the Plumborough High School near Pittsburgh, where he also focused on skateboarding during his spare time. He even enjoyed the sport as a sponsored amateur.
After graduating from high school in 1998 and eventually putting away his skateboard, in the year 2000 he went on to train instead at Casey Leonard’s Pittsburgh-based training center, earning a blue belt under Leonard’s mentorship. The year after that, he kept moving forward to compete and fight in the amateur circuit in Iowa, and eventually headed to California in 2002. Danzig has recently become a member of the Los Angeles-based Legends Gym, training alongside the likes of fellow welterweight warrior Karo Parisyan, and Ultimate Fighter 5 finalist Manny Gamburyan.
