John Kolosci appears as one of the competing fighters in the Spike TV network’s mixed martial arts contest reality series The Ultimate Fighter: Team Hughes vs. Team Serra. He is 32 years old and has an MMA record of 8-4. Kolosci is a native of Portage, IN, though he has undergone most of his training in Northwest, IN. When he was younger and growing up in a small town in Indiana, he was a tough and rough boy who got into numerous fights on the playground. As he grew older, he wanted to find a safer and more legal way to satiate his interest in combat, which in turn piqued his interest for Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu.
Kolosci was an athletic student at Edison in Lake Station High School, playing through three different kinds of sports. As his interest in mixed martial arts grew, he took part in several matches to hone his skills. But though he’s one of the oldest fighters, he has had only almost 5 years of MMA training. Among his techniques which Kolosci is seeking to improve are his kickboxing, ground and pound, offensive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for attacking and scoring hits, and his wrestling. But aside from fighting, he also spends time with his 11-year old daughter and his fiancée.
