Paul Georgieff came into
The Ultimate Fighter 6 as a relative unknown. But, if you watched last night's episode on Spike TV, you can't do anything but come away impressed by not only Paul as a fighter, but as a person. Paul was told there was a phone call for him – he learned that his 19-year old cousin who he'd grown up with had died. He was told he could go to the funeral and come back to the show, but only if he entered the Octagon before he left. So, he did, with obviously a lot on his mind, and he gave
Troy Mandaloniz everything he could handle, despite eventually being knocked out. Paul was kind enough to speak with us earlier today about his time on the show.
Below you will find the full mp3 audio of the interview.
Paul originally got into Jiu Jitsu, and from there entered into the world of MMA. He tried out for The Ultimate Fighter, made it, and the rest is history. His first impression of his other house mates weren't all that much. He thought that there were a lot of guys with really good stand-up games, but that no one else would be a match for him on the ground. After that first day of training and try-outs, Paul truly believed that he could win the whole thing.
Paul learned a lot from Matt Hughes and his coaches. Not so much in the way of technical ability, but just being there and training with them gave him some experiences that he'll never forget. Paul is currently enrolled in grad school studying engineering, but he's going to stick with MMA and he's training every day. I doubt this is the last we'll see of Paul Georgieff.
