Blake Bowman may not have been one of the most experienced fighters on
The Ultimate Fighter 6, but he was certainly one of the most entertaining. Well-liked among most everyone in the house, Blake was quick to joke around and make others laugh, but it never took away from his tireless work ethic. Even though he lost to
Richie Hightower last week on
The Ultimate Fighter, Blake certainly gave it his all and made the most of his stay on
The Ultimate Fighter. Late last week, we talked to Blake about his experiences on the show.
Below you will find the full mp3 audio of the interview.
Some highlights from the interview
Blake got into MMA by watching videos and just liked it and wanted to test it out. He was students, initially, with former Ultimate Fighter contestant Cole Miller. He plied his trade while he had a full-time job, and just kept at it until he tried out for The Ultimate Fighter.
Blake did his best to ignore the other contestants when he moved into the house. He was aware that he was one of the more inexperienced guys there and a lot of guys were trying “to beat their chests” early on. He just tried to ignore it.
It did bother Blake that people talked about how he was perhaps the weakest link in the house. He doesn't think it's true anyway, and believes there are a number of fighters that he can beat on a regular basis. Also, it's not like he chose the fighters. He wanted to be there on the show and he made the best of it.
Blake loved being on
Matt Hughes' team and thinks that he had too much respect for Serra while in the house. Watching the show, he hasn't liked what he's seen from Serra.
Blake's rib injury was edited completely out of sequence. The injury had happened one of the first few days in the house. It had no bearing on his fight and he won't use it as an excuse.
