Having just competed on the
UFC 91 event last Saturday, November 15, Brock Lesnar still has to catch his breath. He just came straight from the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and went against UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture. Lesnar recently opened up to his fans about the 31 riveting years that make up his life.
“You only live once,” he told UFC.com. With a chuckle, he added, “In my mind, I think I’m a good enough athlete that I could do just about anything, and I always had a lot of confidence. But young kids today need to remember that, that when you work hard and stay on track, good things usually come.”
True to his word, Brock Lesnar has definitely encountered a number of great achievements amidst life’s potholes. Earlier this year, he entered the UFC after being in the NCAA National Championship, in pro-wrestling, and in the NFL. Now, he managed to be one-half in the fight dubbed as the biggest in the organization’s history: UFC 91.
“It doesn’t happen overnight, but if you keep your nose to the grindstone, hopefully good things happen.”
Garnering plenty of experience, this former University of Minnesota star has learned a lot along the way. “The biggest transition was to learn to be patient – in the gym and in the Octagon, but mostly in the gym.” He even admits that three years in the business isn’t enough. “I still don’t know everything and there’s a lot more to learn.”
Brock Lesnar has paced himself for the fight, but he didn’t count on any victories or defeats. All he’s doing is trying his best to relax and take things in moderation, which is always the key.
“I’m just relieved I’m doing something that I find myself very happy doing and I’m relieved that I can be home and spend as much time with my daughter and my wife as I can, and do some of the things that I enjoy doing, like hunting and fishing,” Lesnar admitted.
“There’s more to life than just work, whether it’s wrestling or MMA. I’m not a gym rat. I come in here and put time in and when I leave the gym, I go do something else, whether it’s spending time with my family, or hunting or fishing or whatever. I’m at peace. I’m happy where my career is right now and where my life is right now.”
