Created by Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn, Two and a Half Men follows a freewheeling bachelor, Charlie, whose happy-go-lucky lifestyle changes when his brother, Alan (Jon Cryer), moves in with him in his Malibu home, along with his son Jake (Angus T. Jones).  The cast also includes Marin Hinkle, Holland Taylor, and Conchata Ferrell, among others.

In tonight's episode, Charlie is at a date's house, about to get lucky with his girlfriend Linda.  On the other hand, his attempt to consummate his relationship gets interrupted when the doorbell rings. Upon opening the door, he finds Linda's ex standing there with their 4-year-old son.  Linda's ex explains that he has to go out of town for work and can't keep the boy for the weekend, consequently leaving the boy with Linda and Charlie.

Charlie hangs out with the little boy and has a hard time trying to creatively entertain him.  He tries to get him to eat his corn and go to the bathroom by making up funny and a little bit inappropriate songs while mom is in the other room.

Meanwhile, Alan takes the opportunity to sell himself to science and become a human guinea pig.

Aside from the principle ensemble, “Putting Swim Fins on a Cat” also features Ming-Na Wen, Ernie Grunwald, Michael Kelly, and Matt McKenzie.  Ming-Na Wen, who plays Linda, is known for her roles on Inconceivable, the movie version of Amy Tan's novel The Joy Luck Club, and in Disney's Mulan, where she provided the voice of the titular character.
