Angus T. Jones Juggling Homework and 'Two and a Half Men'

For some sitcoms, kids are deemed as background fillers with occasional dialogue and minimal onscreen exposure. But for
Two and a Half Men, the show more than gives
Angus T. Jones the opportunity to throw in a few punchlines since he is also the third lead star of the series, with his role even referenced in the show's title.
On the other hand, co-starring on a highly-rated TV series also has its downside, according to the child actor who just turned 14 today.

"I feel really lucky to be on the show every episode and get a lot of really funny lines," Jones said. "I just started eighth grade, and there is just a ton of work to do. I hardly have any time during the week, so there are piles of schoolwork everywhere."
Jones, whose credits include movies like,
The Rookie, See Spot Run, Bringing Down the House and
George of the Jungle 2, currently stars Jacob David “Jake” Harper on
Two and a Half Men, which is arguably his best known role to date. He plays the sweet and naïve son of Alan (
Jon Cryer) who is also a poster boy of all things innocent. This is much to the disappointment of his mother (
Marin Hinkle) and father since Jake is usually exposed to things beyond his years while staying with his father at his uncle Charlie's (
Charlie Sheen) beach house in Malibu.
"What's not to like? I'm learning a lot about comedy, and everyone is just hilarious. Sometimes the hardest thing for me is not to laugh,” he said.
He even thinks it's hilarious that the Emmy telecast cut to him during the
Family Guy's primetime-skewering opening song: "Today they've got some shows that are remarkably obscene/Like that show about the little boy who lives with Charlie Sheen."
"The jokes used to just go over [Jake's] head," he explained. "Now that he's growing up, I guess he kinda gets it -- but not really."
Two and a Half Men airs every Monday at 9pm ET/PT on CBS.
