Three days to go, kids!
New Moon is just around the corner, and it seems the world is ready to hear you guys out again. You know, all the screaming and the gushing. Los Angeles got a taster of it last night when the second installment of the
Twilight films premiered, and it was a familiar sight, much like what happened last year--pretty much what you'd expect in today's roundup.
Bite one: Is it really like Beatlemania? Trust Robert Pattinson to know what he's taking about, partly because he's British. "You can't prepare for this,"
he told Entertainment Weekly, talking about the huuuge reaction to the
Twilight saga. "It's just insane. I don't know how the Beatles felt, but I imagine it was close to this. I think very few human beings will ever get to experience the same feelings and love we feel at
Twilight events."
Well, I think it's not like Beatlemania because that was bigger (I won't pretend to know since I wasn't born in the 1960s) but intensity-wise, I agree. Much more now, there are so many people fueling the hype machine, us included.
Bite two: Miley Cyrus isn't convinced. Beatlemania? Not so for Miley Cyrus,
who told an Ohio radio station that she does not plan to take a dive down the rivers of
Twilight. "I've never seen it, and nor will I ever," she said. "I don't believe in it. I don't like vampires, I don't like any of the stuff, like the wolf that pops out of the screen when I'm watching my TV at night. I don't like it. I don't want anything to do with it. I don't like the shirts, any of it."
Here's the thing, Miley. One, it's okay not to like the series, although surely someone as big at you will risk having Twi-hards pounce at you like a werewolf. Two, you didn't have to say all these things--like, hello, Miley, I don't like it either, and yet I'm cool with it! In fact, Miley, I'm looking for someone to watch
New Moon with this weekend. No, really, I'm serious.
Bite three: Victoria isn't convinced either. But I understand why
Rachelle Lefevre didn't pop up at the New Moon premiere last night. "With [my dog] Honey in the hospital and being fired from
Eclipse, tonight was just too emotional for me and I couldn't manage it," she told fans on Twitter, explaining her no-show.
Too bad, because I've heard we get to see more of her this time around. It would've been a good send-off for a beloved member of the series who was ceremoniously and controversially dumped a few months back. Well, I do hope her replacement, Bryce Dallas Howard, is prepared for all this next June...
