Summit announced yesterday that British horror director David Slade will be directing the third movie in The Twilight Saga, Eclipse. Slade got his start as a music video director who graduated with a degree in Fine Arts. He never actually attended a professional film school. During his music video days, Slade worked with Aphex, Stone Temple Pilots, Tori Amos, Muse, System of a Down and AFI.
David Slade's first feature film was Hard Candy, a character driven thriller about a 14-year old girl (Ellen Page) who meets a 32-year old photographer (Patrick Wilson) on the Internet. Lions Gate Entertainment purchased the film at Sundance and released it nationwide. From there, Slade went on to direct 30 Days of Night.

Eclipse. Spoiler Alert! In
Eclipse, Victoria returns with an entire army of freshly turned vampires in an attempt to kill Bella, whom she holds responsible for her mate James' death. The suspense and battle sequences will be a breeze for the
30 Days of Night director.
Stephenie Meyer seems psyched about Summit's decision, which is essential considering her devout follower wouldn't have it any other way. Meyer stated, "I am thrilled that David Slade will be directing
Eclipse. He's a visionary filmmaker who has so much to offer this franchise. From the beginning, we've been blessed with wonderful directorial talent for the
Twilight Saga, and I'm so happy that
Eclipse will be carrying on with that tradition." David Slade's personal brand of filmmaking has always skewed towards the intense. His most famous quote is, "The DNA of suspense is in the way the film is made."
Melissa Rosenberg will once again, write the screenplay.
Eclipse is set to release on June 30, 2010. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are currently filming
The Twilight Saga: New Moon up in Vancouver. There's no official announcement as to whether or not Taylor will be returning for the third film.
