Being a celebrity can't be easy. Having random strangers know weird facts about your
personal life, being followed constantly by the paparazzi and needing three
bodyguards to just walk down the street would put a damper on things. Brad Pitt
and Angelina Jolie are photographed in almost every single thing they do.
Britney Spears has gone a bit bonkers due to the constant media attention. The
media's newest love affair is the beautiful Twilight star Mr. Robert Pattinson.
So what makes Robert Pattinson's moment in the sun more cringe worthy than all
those other celebrities? It's the Beatlemania but Pattinson is taking it on all
alone. The Beatles had three other band mates to lean on when the high pitched
screaming and squealing of the girls got to be too much. They had someone else
who understood what they were going through. Instead, Robert Pattinson weathers
the storm of celebrity solo, unable to even lean on his fellow Twilight costar and
endlessly rumored girlfriend Kristen Stewart for support."I'm kind of a paranoid wreck. I've eaten a lot of room
service." Pattinson told Entertainment Tonight on the set of
New Moon.
"Now it's funny, you can't even get through to people on the phone. They
won't even let you ring people up. I can't even ring down to reception and say
let them up. I have to literally go down and carry them," he added about
his increased security.
Twilight obsession has become a pandemic and Robert
Pattinson is at the center of it. "They are in denial. They think I am
Edward Cullen." Pattinson has said. With such a romantic, heroic figure to
live up to, the actor must feel as if he can never please his fans.
In another interview, when asked about
greeting fans, Pattinson responded, "It is bizarre. People come from three
states away and walk up to you trembling. I feel that I am at a disadvantage
here because I can't provide this mystical thing that they came for in the two
seconds that we have."
Countless fans will tell you that their obsession, although initially
started by the idea of Edward Cullen, has moved on to Robert Pattinson himself.
The shy, modest young man who has left his ego at the door captivates new fans
each day with his gorgeous photo shoots, endearing interviews, and silly charm.
Whether it is his GQ interview where he explained he microwaves things for fun
or his Interview Magazine spot where he claimed to stop looking like a girl at
the age of 12, Pattinson never seems to say the wrong thing.
"You see all these people that surround you and you
think that one way or another you have to please them. I want to please them.
They are the reason I get to do this job. I just worry I don't please them -
but I don't know what they want." Pattinson says. But it seems all they
want is Robert Pattinson: every photo, every second, every rumor, every word
and every detail. Until then, let's just hope Robert can get a good night's
sleep and avoid being hit by anymore New York City cabs.
