Surely you've already marked the dates in every calendar you can get your hands on, and perhaps a little bit more.
Twilight film number two,
New Moon, on November 20.
Or is it? A curious detail was revealed when the film's trailer hit theaters in France recently. It doesn't say it'll open on that date, but instead, a full two days earlier--November 18.
I hear a collective werewolf howl.
Remember when
Twilight had a twenty-minute preview at last year's Rome International Film Festival? I remember the biggest of fans scramble for ways to get themselves a ticket to the Italian city, for a chance to have first dibs on the movie and see the stars up close.
I don't think we'll see that kind of scramble soon, though, because it's just two days and there's nothing much going for it, except for seeing the film first. I know, it feels better watching any movie in an actual cinema, popcorn in hand.
Now, the interesting theories I've seen is that Summit Entertainment is angling to move
New Moon's opening date to an earlier slot. Pretty much what happened to
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen--it opened last Wednesday, a full two days before its original release date. Perfect way to take advantage of that rabid fan base who'll do anything to see the film first, right?
Then again, new movies usually open in France on Wednesdays rather than Fridays, which is what usually happens here. But, as we've seen before, things might as well change. It's still a full five months before
New Moon finally screens, after all.
