Looks like
Robert Pattinson is getting some sort of competition among other British actors. Another crucial role has been filled in the film adaptation to
New Moon, with British actor Jamie Campbell-Bower confirming that he will appear as Caius, the guy who begins the Volturi somewhere in Italy.
The actor, who has starred in other films such as
Sweeney Todd and
RockNRolla, is excited to take on the role. It's a surprise of sorts, though, considering that he hasn't read any of the books in Stephenie Meyer's best-selling
Twilight novels. “I hadn't read the books before,” he said in an interview with the BBC. “But it's a great thing to be a part of, and it did very well last year.”
The 20-year-old is just the latest in many actors who have received roles in
New Moon, as casting details slowly trickle out while shooting continues. Dakota Fanning was earlier confirmed to play Volturi member Jane, and five Native American actors have been cast as members of the wolf pack. More recently, runway model Noot Seear will appear as the beautiful vampire that is “not only the fisherman, but also the bait.”
Campbell-Bower, who starts shooting in June, hinted that he knows about who else will appear in the film, but wouldn't budge when pressed. “I do know who else will be in it, but I can't tell you, unfortunately,” he said. “But go online and have a look at the rumors. They're all false. You're putting me in a terrible situation.”
What about Pattinson, who's obviously (as if we need to reiterate this) returning to the film series as Edward Cullen? Admittedly, both actors are lookers—and with both being British, I'd expect that Campbell-Bower will earn a similar amount of attention. He thinks otherwise, though. “I doubt I'll get the same sort of adulation as Robert, but it's always nice when people recognise you for your work,” he said.
For now, here's a bigger version of the photo up there. Ogle, fans. Ogle.
