One of the more familiar aspects of anticipating a
Twilight movie is the soundtrack. I think that was the first
Twilight-related article I did for this website, but I digress. With
New Moon kicking in by November, discussion on the soundtrack is starting to grow--and, of course, because the music forms quite a significance to the writing of the novels. Go ask Stephenie Meyer if you can.
Now, the buzz is, British band Coldplay will make it to the soundtrack to
New Moon. Idle speculation? Could've been, considering Meyer thanked that band, among others, for helping her go through writer's block. That, however, was the precise quote that the band had in mind, and when a fan asked about that, the band simply said it's a huge possibility.
"It's very likely that a Coldplay song will end up on the soundtrack to the
Twilight sequel," they said on their official website. "Stephenie Meyer has credited Coldplay, amongst others, on the inner sleeve for 'being instrumental in staving off the writer's block'."
The song in question? "The Scientist", the one whose video saw frontman Chris Martin walk backwards through a jungle and back (or forward?) to a car with a girl. Or was it a car wreck? I can't remember. But it's a painful song, as you very well know. And, considering what Stephenie herself said, it pretty much fits
New Moon. Remember when she suggested all sorts of bands for your reading? "The Scientist", she said, was a recommendation based on reading
New Moon from Edward's perspective.
And they did say we'll be seeing a lot of Edward (even if it isn't exactly the case with the books) on the movie, so maybe it is possible. That, or when she gets
Midnight Sun out and that becomes a movie...
