It's that time of the year again: the MTV Movie Awards are this Sunday.
Now, some of you might be thinking, "Bah, it's going to be another
Twilight love-fest like last year." Well, here's the bad news: the second film in the popular vampire franchise,
New Moon, has five nominations, including one for Best Movie, and the expected Best Kiss nod for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. (Plus, there's more non-
Twilight love for
Twilight stars: Kristen also scored another nomination for
The Runaways, while Anna Kendrick scored a Breakthrough Performance nod for
Up in the Air.)
Sunday night's Awards also promises a sneak peek at the third film in the series,
Eclipse--also like last year's
Twilight-centric show, which featured a clip of
New Moon. Capitalizing on (and lampooning) the mania, host Andy Samberg performed a
Twilight spoof; not sure yet if this year's host, comedian Aziz Ansari, will do the same.
Thankfully, non-
Twilight-loving Movie Awards watchers can take heart that
New Moon wasn't the only big film last year, and it's got stiff competition for both awards and attention on Sunday night. Blockbusters like
Avatar,
Star Trek,
The Hangover,
G.I. Joe,
The Blind Side, and more also got nominations.
There's still time to vote for your favorites over at MovieAwards.MTV.com.
And
Twilight's not the only franchise giving fans a sneak peek
during the show:
Harry Potter fans will celebrate when a
never-before-seen clip of
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
airs on Sunday.
Among the stars slated to appear during Sunday night's ceremonies: Adam Sandler, Ashley Tisdale, Bradley Cooper, Jason Segel, Miranda Cosgrove, Russell Brand, Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron and Tom Cruise, who will make a special appearance as his balding, beer-bellied
Tropic Thunder character, Les Grossman.

their latest singles.
Oh, and how could we forget the
Twilight trio? Kristen, Rob and Taylor will be there, too.
Then there's the night's Master of Ceremonies: self-proclaimed "comedy badass" Aziz Ansari of NBC's
Parks and Recreation, who has plenty of practice for those movie parody scenes we're sure to see him in, having starred on the outrageous MTV comedy sketch show
Human Giant, whose co-stars Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer will join Aziz in a reunion video during the show.
The MTV Movie Awards airs live on Sunday, June 6 at 9pm.
