Carrie Preston, who plays Arlene Fowler on HBO's
True Blood, has been cast on CBS'
The Good Wife for a multiple episode arc, according to
Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello. On the legal drama, the 42-year-old actress will play a character named Elsbeth Mann, one of the associates of Peter's (Chris Noth) legal team.
As of this moment, there is no word yet on when the
True Blood actress will make her debut on
The Good Wife. However, Preston's casting on yet another series is sure to ignite rumors about her fate on
True Blood, which returns for its third season on June 13. And since production of the vampire series takes place in Los Angeles, it's not too far-fetched to speculate that she may soon drop out or possibly get killed off in the new season to make room for her upcoming gig, which films in New York.
HBO Sets Premiere Date for True Blood Season 3However, fans of Merlotte's quirky waitress shouldn't worry, at least for now. According to an insider, "Arlene isn't a major presence in the third book. A lot of the action takes place outside of Bon Temps, so [Carrie] probably had some free time on her hands." An HBO rep has declined to comment on the issue, though.
Season 3 SpoilersPreston is credited for her appearances on
