Friday, March 29, 2013
going to be a killer summer on HBO and AMC as the networks have
officially announced premiere dates for the upcoming seasons of True Blood and The Killing.
On HBO, True Blood season 6 will premiere Sunday, June 16 at 9pm, two weeks after the end of Game of Thrones. The new season will be shorter than past years with only 10 episodes.
The new season of True Blood will also introduce a number of new characters. Golden Globe winner Rutger Hauer will play the mysterious Warlow, who holds a contract for Sookie's life. Friday Night Lights star Jurnee Smollett and Brothers and Sisters star Luke Grimes will also appear.
On AMC, The Killing, which was previously canceled after season 2 before getting resurrected for a third year, will begin its new case with a two-hour premiere Sunday, June 2 at 8pm` where it will precede the final four episodes of Mad Men's upcoming sixth season.
The Killing season 3 will feature an entirely different case, only bringing back stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman as Linden and Holder to investigate. The new season begins one year after the Rosie Larsen murder. Linden is no longer a detective, but Holder's search for a runaway girl leads to a gruesome string of murders connected to one of Linden's old cases.
The new season will star Peter Sarsgaard and Elias Koteas. In addition, unlike the Rosie Larsen case, the producers of The Killing have promised that this investigation will be wrapped up by the end of a single season.
So get ready for bloody Sundays this summer as the vampires of Bon Temps and the murders in Seattle both fill up your June.
