It's no secret that the third season of
Torchwood is currently filming in Cardiff, Wales. But it's also hard not to create buzz when the set involves a massive crater that's shrouding a major city in smoke.
According to WalesOnline, the
Torchwood film crew spent several days transforming the area outside Wales Millennium Centre into a huge explosion crater. With smoldering signs of smoke, fire and twisted metal, it serves up an obvious hint to what's to come for Captain Jack Harkness (
John Barrowman) and the rest of the gang.
Warning: May contain spoilers.
“At night it's been quite eerie because the whole of WMC seems to vanish behind the smoke. They've been setting fire to it and smoke has been pouring all over the place. It looks like the aftermath of an explosion,” an onlooker told WalesOnline. “It's all to do with
Torchwood's hub. Something has happened to that unit base and there's a massive crater in front of it."
“There's footage of
Eve Myles running towards the crater and being dragged away by paramedics. It really does look like it's going to be good. They're spending a lot of time on special affects,” the onlooker added.
There is no official word yet on how this explosive scene will play out in the new five-episode arc season called
Torchwood: Children of Earth, which will follow the Torchwood team as they go on a single action-packed voyage to battle for the future of the human race against the most wicked force they have encountered. Meanwhile, fans can look forward to four new cast members. According to series producer Peter Bennett, Lucy Cohu, Susan Brown, Cush Jumbo, and Rik Makarem have signed on to join the cast of
Torchwood. You can read more about these actors and their characters
