Gareth David-Lloyd

Gareth David-Lloyd was born on March 28, 1981 in New Port, South Wales.  He discovered his passion for acting early in life and had his first role as a robot for a school play.  During his teenage years, he honed his acting skills by joining the Gwent Young People's Theater located in Abergavenny.  He was part of several plays such as Macbeth, The Threepenny Opera and Henry IV.  Former member of the British Parliament Neil Kinnock was so impressed when he watched Gareth at the Monmouth Castle that he gave him £250 and told him to use it in advancing his acting career.  He studied at Coleg Gwent, Crosskeys and also performed at the Dolman Theater in Newport and at the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff.  He also trained at the National Youth Theatre then moved to the Rep College where he performed in the stage producion of Twelfth Night.

Gareth David Lloyd was cast as Terry Pine on Absolute Power, as Darrell Kemner on Casualty and as Zack on Rosemary & Thyme.  His other TV appearances were on shows Mine All Mine, Beethoven and The Bill.

He also recorded Tales of the Supernatural, an M.R. James Ghost Stories episode.  Fantom Films recently asked him to be part of the audio CD Cult Conversations, where he was interviewed about his experience with Torchwood.

Gareth is currently studying philosophy at the Open University, the U.K.'s "open learning" university.

Ianto Jones is played by Gareth David Lloyd on BBC's Torchwood, a sci-fi TV drama series.  The show focuses on the machinations and activities of Torchwood Institutes' Cardiff Branch.  The branch works mainly on research on extraterrestrials.  A general support man at Cardfiff, Jones' responsibilities include being a receptionist, a computer system administrator, a coffee and tea server, a reports reviewer, and an overseer of loose ends.  He often joins the team in the investigation field.
