As mentioned before, production for the highly anticipated new season of Torchwood has already started in Cardiff, Wales.  And as a result, excited bystanders were able to catch a glimpse of some of the scenes being filmed for the upcoming season, which will premiere on BBC America shortly after the U.K. premiere in the spring of 2009.

Season 3, which is called Torchwood: Children of Earth, will run as a single five-episode story arc as an alternative to the usual 13-episode run, and will follow the Torchwood team as they go on a single action-packed voyage to battle for the future of the human race against the most wicked force they have encountered.

Earlier this month, the cast and crew of Torchwood shot a scene, which appeared to be the Royal Bank of Scotland cash point at the Cardiff Castle end of St Mary Street.  Eve Myles, who plays Gwen Cooper, was among those surrounded by camera crews, milling crowds of extras and autograph-hunters.

“We've been very busy this morning filming the third series of Torchwood,” Myles said earlier this month.  “It's exciting to be filming again in Cardiff.  We're very sorry for the disruption we're causing, but at lest nothing paranormal is happening today!”

In the past few weeks, the cast and crew of Torchwood have already been spotted at various locations across Cardiff, including Cardiff Bay. Meanwhile, shooting will continue throughout the city until the end of November.

Some of the special guests this season include Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Thick Of It, Skins), who will be portraying Mr. Frobisher, a civil servant hiding a horrible secret, Paul Copely (Coronation Street, The Bill), who plays Clem the survivor still struggling with his past, and Liz May Brice (Bad Girls, The Bill) as Johnson, the skeptical secret government agent determined to expose Torchwood.

As expected, John Barrowman will return as the dashing bi-sexual adventurer Jack Harkness.
