1) Bravo's Top Chef and Project Runway.
(And, most likely, Top Design
premiering this week, but we will have to wait and see.) Yes, these shows do have some of the less-impressive hallmarks of reality television, contestants probably chosen for their quirky or incendiary personalities rather than their skill, and ridiculous, solemnly-intoned kiss-off lines. However, most people on the shows do have a sincere talent and passion for their craft (cooking and clothes designing, respectively). The shows have also landed some big industry names to be regular and guest judges. Even if they stripped away all of the reality-television conventions, the shows would still be interesting, as it's just fundamentally fascinating to watch the creative process happen.
