Top Chef DC: Food Porn From the Grill
Last night the cheftestants grilled on Mount Vernon and made some really disgusting-sounding pies. Let's take a look at some of the plates that succeeded aesthetically (and one that really didn't). Mind you, I can't taste these dishes (and sometimes can't even imagine what they would taste like) so I'm going strictly on plating appeal.

Overall, this season has been heavy on drama and light on plating technique, but at least Kenny tried to stack some stuff on top of other stuff here.

Tracey's Italian Sausage Slider, Tomato, Cucumber & Red Onion Salad

Alright, I liked Tracey a lot and was sad to see her go, but by plating alone I can see why she went home. What is that?! It doesn't look good at all.

Andrea's Key Lime and Meyer Lemon Pie with Fresh Basil Syrup and Black Pepper-Vanilla Bean Whipped Cream

I don't really remember who Andrea is, and we will ignore the fact that there is basil in this pie because she is one of the few people who managed to keep her piece of pie together. I'm sure Top Chef: Just Desserts will offer much more aesthetically pleasing sweets.

I agree with Gail that simple is sometimes the best. She didn't put any weird ingredients in it and it looks edible.
