Writers Remain with 'Til Death
Writers for Fox’s comedy series, ‘Til Death, have signed a deal with Sony Pictures that gives them until 2009 to work with the show.

Alex Barnow and Marc Firek, who also served as writers for such shows as Family Guy, In-Laws, Out of Practice and Like Family, will act as the show’s supervising producers next season. The deal Barnow and Firek made with Sony Pictures also includes any project that they may develop in the future.

Glenn Adilman, Senior Vice-President of comedy development for Sony, said that the writers “have played a key role” in the success of ‘Til Death. “Committing to a broader relationship with them was the obvious next step,” he added.

Initially, the show, which debuted last September, was being aired every Thursday night at 8pm. The network then decided to move the show to a better time slot, particularly after the American Idol results show. ‘Til Death began airing at 9:30pm on March 14th, and the scheduling change caused the series to perform better in the ratings. According to the Hollywood Reporter’s 2006-2007 primetime wrap, the series ranked 82nd with 7.1 million viewers.

On May 11th, the series was picked up for another season. Fox has also announced that the complete first season will come out on DVD on August 21st.

‘Til Death, a series about two married couples living next door to each other, stars Brad Garrett, Joely Fischer, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Kat Foster. Garrett, who joined the cast of ‘Til Death a year after the hit series Everybody Loves Raymond ended, and Fischer play husband and wife Eddie and Joy Stark. The Starks have been married for a long time, as opposed to their new neighbors, newlyweds Jeff (Thomas) and Steph (Foster) Woodcock. On the series pilot, the Woodcocks are seen celebrating their 12th day of marriage, while the Sparks are just beginning their 8,743rd.
