Cast: Brad Garrett,
Joely Fisher, Kat Foster, Eddie Kaye Thomas, J.B. Smoove
Previously on Til Death: Eddie (Brad Garrett) was an unemotional, rude boor while his wife Joy (Joely Fisher) shrugged her shoulders and wagged her finger at his wacky antics. Repeat ad infinitum.
Raise your hand if you knew that
Til Death was still on the air. Anyone? Perhaps fearing that star Brad Garrett might suffer a heart attack if his show was canceled, much like
Kelsey Grammer did after
Back to You tanked, FOX decided to renew the generic sitcom about a bitter married couple living next door to newlyweds. Viewers who don't care to tune in to
Deal or No Deal now have a way to kill half an hour.
Garrett, who stars as Eddie Stark, promises that the new season will bring some depth to his eternally sarcastic and sardonic grumpy married man -- a little softening up to make him more likable, though not too much softening of course. In fact, the other series regulars (Joely Fisher, Kat Foster, and Eddie Kaye Thomas) all say that the show's character focus will change up a bit, with the stories being less about how different the two couples are and more about how similar they're becoming the more that they're exposed to one another.
Of course, don't think that means the show is suddenly going to become all introspective and about character studies. Fear not, fans of "men are like this, but women are like that!" humor, for more of that clichéd comedy will abound as the show and its laugh track barrel into your living room each week. In the first few weeks of season 3 alone there will be one character contemplating a boob job, two others having wacky shenanigans at a Big Brother/Little Brother gathering, and Allison bringing home an unexpected guest to meet her parents.
It was also recently announced that former
Seinfeld actor
Jason Alexander will be coming on board to direct the show's sixth episode. With that kind of comedic talent behind the camera, you might be able to get a chuckle or two out of
Til Death's nonstop ball-and-chain humor.
