Til Death Do Us Part

Til Death Do Us Part is a reality based series in Canada narrated and hosted by known filmmaker John Waters. With the motto, “To Love, Honor, and Perish,” the series features crime stories about married couples whose once blissful union ended into brutal murders.

John Waters acts as “The Groom Reaper” in the series. He time travels in each episode, guiding the viewers in the whole course of the story through his observations. Each episode begins with a wedding, where John mysteriously appears and first introduces the couple. The story then slowly unfolds, building up the mystery on who will commit the murder. After the first 15 minutes of the series, Court TV allows the viewers to text message their guess on who among the couple would be the killer. As the show ends, John once again appears and says his famous and last line, “I have another wedding to go to, but I hope it won't be yours.”

In its premiere episode “The Airplane Murder,” a middle-aged doctor marries his young and beautiful receptionist. In its early part, “The Groom Reaper” warn, “right now our lovebirds are happily playing doctor and patient, but in a few years…one of them assumes the role of murderer while the other if forced to play victim.”

In the episode “Funeral Parlor Murder,” the diminutive funeral parlor director Ronald and his plus-sized wife Bonnie were deeply in loved with each other at the start of their marriage. But things start to become sour when Bonnie succeeds in her self-improvement campaign.

All episodes are based on real life court cases but the names and locations are fictional. Also, the producers intentionally invented and combined the characters and events for dramatic purposes.
