As Laura Davis on the science-fiction dramedy
Three Moons Over Milford, Elizabeth McGovern played the mother of the Davis family. Throughout the series, she struggled with emotional strain brought about by her husband's abandonment of the family and the major changes in the wake of the moon incident. Unfortunately, the show was canceled after airing eight episodes, sending the 46-year-old actress to pursue other endeavors.
At present, the former
Three Moons Over Milford star is filming the movie
A Room with a View, the second film adaptation following director James Ivory's 1986 award-winning film, which is based on the 1908 novel by English writer E.M. Forster. Expected for release later this year, the drama centers on a young woman struggling with her individuality in the repressed culture of Edwardian England. McGovern joins costars Rafe Spall and Elaine Cassidy.
Aside from
Three Moons Over Milford, Elizabeth McGovern was also known for her lead role on BBC's
Freezing, an urban comedy about a thriving actress and her successful publishing husband [Hugh Bonneville] who both struggle with life as fame and promise start to fade away.
Moreover, she most recently became part of
Daphne, a biopic that explores the life a famous British novelist during the years between her famous novel
Rebecca and her short story
The Birds, including her relationship with her husband and her infatuation with American publishing tycoon's wife Ellen Doubleday (McGovern).
