Daniel Goddard has spiced up the drama in Genoa City ever since he was cast as Cane Ashby on The Young and the Restless earlier this year.  In an interview with Soaps.com, he has revealed some things about his character and some hints on what fans might expect in the near future.

For the 35-year-old actor, his character's plot has come a long way since he was first introduced on Young and the Restless as the blind date of Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz).  His storylines has significantly evolved into a whirlwind of drama surrounding his true identity and his relationship with Amber.  Meanwhile, he is gradually interacting with major principle characters and is expanding his horizons as a businessman.

“Cane's moving a lot more into the business aspects of things, which I'm happy about.  It allows him to have conflict and connections with the major core characters of the show.  Although I can't tell you with who, I'm very excited about a new love interest Cane will have.  During this time, fans will see a whole other side to Cane,” Goddard explained.

“At this point, I'm working with everybody – a lot of it hasn't been aired yet. I've done some great scenes with Jack [Peter Bergman] on the business end of things, which I'm looking forward to.  I've loved my scenes with Victor [Eric Braeden], which will also be coming up.  Cane is really taking off as the businessman.  Every character I work with or have yet to work with is different with different possibilities for a storyline,” he added.

Although he can't really reveal anything about his character's true identity, Goddard has openly expressed his opinion over the issue.

“Yes, I do hope Cane is Jill's son.  He's never had family.  The fans will definitely be able to watch as Jill and Cane's relationship grows and how Cane and Katherine's does as well – although in different ways,” he said.

Additionally, much of his storylines explore his relationship with Amber, who has lied and manipulated him in so many ways.  Despite the exploitation, Goddard believes that his character won't completely fire-up and become villainous in nature.

“I don't think Cane could turn to the dark side.  As a core, he's a good person.  He's a survivor… I think that's why he tolerates Amber so much because she's a survivor too.  He can relate to Amber,” he said.

On the other hand, fans will get to see a different kind of Cane in the future episodes of Young and the Restless.

“Coming up, after Cane finds out how much Amber has lied to him, fans are going to see a different side to Cane. He's going to lower himself to Amber's level. He'll be rather cold,” Goddard revealed.
