General Hospital's Nazanin Boniadi isn't the only soap star that has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award.  In fact, The Young and  the Restless has acquired even more nominations for several of its cast members.

As previously reported, Christel Khalil, who plays Lily on The Young and the Restless, has been selected as one of the contenders for the “Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series.”  In addition to the soap veteran, her male co-stars, Bryton McClure and Kristoff St. John have also been included in the list of nominees for "Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series.”

McClure, who was born to an African-American musician father and a Caucasian mother, has played the role of Devon Hamilton on The Young and the Restless since 2004.  He has also been nominated for an Image award since 2005 and has won the 2007 Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series.”

As for St. John, who is also of Caucasian and African-American ancestry, he is best known for his role as Neil Winters.  In 1992, he won the Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Younger Actor" in a Drama Series, and since then, has also won numerous NAACP Image Awards.

In 1992, St. John won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his role in The Young and the Restless.  Over the years, he has also won numerous NAACP Image Awards.

Bryton McClure and Kristoff St. John are up against Kamar de los Reyes of One Life to Live, Mykel Shannon Jenkins of The Bold and the Beautiful, and Tobias Truvillion, also from One Life to Live.

These awards celebrate the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in literature, television, motion pictures and recording arts.

This year, over 1,200 entries were received, and from those entries, a special committee of 300 industry professionals and NAACP leaders from across the country selected five nominees in each of 44 categories.

Fans can catch the 39th NAACP Image Awards live on Thursday, February 14 at 8pm ET/PT FOX.
