The Young and the Restless: January 16 Live Thoughts
The Young and the Restless: January 16 Live Thoughts
Lily (Christel Khalil) gets a surprise visit from Cane (Daniel Goddard) at the Newman offices.  Lily is wearing a shockingly unflattering yellow cardigan that is straight out of the '80s.

Brad (Don Diamont), having shown up at Sharon's (Sharon Case) hotel room in Chicago, lies that she left some important documents behind which is why he's here.  But that doesn't fool her; she knows exactly what he's here for.  She quietly lets him come into the room.

Back at home, Jack (Peter Bergman) just found out about Brad's nefarious plan.  He's majorly worried.

David (Vincent Irizarry) is ecstatic that Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) wants to marry him.  He wants to be a team with her, in every sense of the word.  He proposes another idea: he wants her to go back to Victor and sell back her ownership of NVP and drop the lawsuit against him in exchange for a clean slate.

At Newman, Neil (Kristoff St. John) gives Victor a bullet-point list for the counter-suit against Nikki.  Victor's very pleased with Neil's work, and asks him to have the lawyers draw up the papers tonight.  He wants Nikki to be served tomorrow.

In Chicago, Brad tells Sharon that he knows they belong together and that he loves her.  She tries to let him down gently.  He says that he'll get up and walk out the door, but first, they have to do the old soap stand-by: he asks her to first look him in the eye and tell him that she doesn't love him.  Meanwhile, Jack is pulling out his hair, thinking about all of this.

David says that selling NVP will cut the last remaining material tie that she has to Victor.  She likes the thought of that, but the company means a lot to her.  Stop, Nikki!  Break up with him!  He's hiding something!  He's just using you for your money!  Or, so I'm speculating.

Neil wants Victor to reconsider some of the points of the countersuit.  But his concerns fall on deaf ears because it is precisely Victor's intentions to leave Nikki with absolutely nothing.  Neil promises to support Victor, but he's also going to speak his mind.  But Victor still refuses to listen in his quintessentially Victor way.

Lily tells Cane that she has a test coming up on the Civil War.  Cane says that he's an expert on the American Civil War, so she quizzes him.  He pretends to conflate World War I with the Civil War, and Lily almost believes him.  Way to go, Genoa City dean's list.  Out in the break room, Neil goes to get coffee and runs into Karen (Nia Peeples) who is also working late.

In Victor's office, Nick (Joshua Morrow) walks in looking for a misplace belonging.  He sees the counter-lawsuit papers on Victor's desk.

Jack is despondently sitting at the GCAC bar and calls Sharon's cell.  But he only gets her voicemail.  In Chicago, Sharon tells Brad that she can't love him the way he wants her to and most likely never has loved him.  Naturally, Brad says that she just won't let herself go there.  She says that she needed him more than she loved him.  She feels backed into a corner and says that they have to make a clean break and stop being friends.  She hugs him, cries and then shows him the door.  Wow, who knew that The Young and the Restless could have such an unambiguous conclusion.

Nick gets a scolding for going through Victor's personal things without his permission.

David serves Nikki some non-alcoholic wine with her dinner.  Non-alcoholic win is really the way to a woman's heart.  She decides once and for all to go along with his plan to sell NVP back to Victor.

Sharon picks up her phone and calls Jack who is still at the club.  She doesn't say anything about Brad at first, but she finally blurts it out.  Jack smiles after they hang up.

Lily and Cane are still making out in Neil's office when Neil and Karen walk in on them.  Cane leaves immediately, and Lily offers to walk him to the elevator, but Neil intervenes and escorts the Aussi out.  Out in the hallway, Neil warns Cane not to bring his physical relationship with Lily into his house.

Victor finds Nick in the break room.  Nick asks Victor to be more sympathetic toward Nikki.  Victor says that David Chow is only after Nikki's money, and then reminds Nick about all the ways he betrayed him.  And then he fires Nick.  Nick says he's done and Victor will be alone.  The fight concludes with a "Get out!  I don't need any of you!" from Victor.

Cane leaves a voicemail for Lily about how he's glad that he got to see her tonight.  In Neil's office, Lily asks Neil to respect her freedom and she wants to move out.

Sharon goes to bed after reading the book that Jack gave her.  Brad sits alone at the hotel bar and downs his whiskey in two gulps.  Victor stares out the window in his office, sadly.

In the middle of the nights, Nick goes over to Nikki's to tell her that he's done with Victor and to warn her about the lawsuit she'll be served with tomorrow morning.

Next on The Young and the Restless: Daniel suspects that Heather has a heart, there will be a surprise party, Nikki and Victor fight again.
