The Young and the Restless picks up where we left off last Friday. A huge blizzard has hit Genoa City and people are stranded. Sharon (
Sharon Case) and Noah are still snowed in at the tack house with Nick (
Joshua Morrow). Noah is upstairs asleep, and Phyllis (
Michelle Stafford) is stuck at the GCAC. Sharon and Nick are having a snack with Summer when the power goes off. Sharon starts crying because of her miserable state of affairs.
Ashley Abbott (
Eileen Davidson) has surprised Jack (
Peter Bergman) with a visit from
The Bold and the Beautiful set. She sympathizes with all of Jack's personal and professional problems.
Brad (
Don Diamont) approaches Phyllis at the bar. She's testy with him, but he wants to propose a truce between them.
Nikki (
Melody Thomas Scott) is stranded at the ranch with Victor (
Eric Braeden). He assures her that Victoria's medical equipment is safe despite the power outage because of the backup generators. He wants to continue the important discussion they were having. Nikki doesn't want to hear it, though, because she thinks he's just being a bully. It's classic miscommunication: Nikki thinks that Victor stopped loving her, and he thinks that she's stopped loving him. Nikki wants to just move on and stop hurting each other.
Ashley gives Jack the update about her life in L.A. She gives a quick recap of what's been going on in
The Bold and the Beautiful. Ridge proposed to her, but he went back to Brooke Logan. They're interrupted by the phone ringing. It's Sharon calling. Jack suggests that she come clean to Noah about their marriage problems, but she already told him. Jack gets off the phone and tells his sister all about his problems with Sharon. Jack, it seems, just wants to run from his problems and not take responsibility for them.
Phyllis is suspicious of Brad's offer for truce, and she's right. Brad admits that he wants something from her. He wants her to convince her good friend Jack that Sharon is not the right woman for him. That way, Brad can have Sharon all to himself.
Jack tells Ashley about Gloria's letter. He still wants to stop Gloria from getting a penny of John Abbott's money, but Ashley reasons with him that maybe he should just give the money to Gloria.
Nick and Sharon play cards while Nick asks her to think more carefully about her decision to move out before doing anything.
Phyllis doesn't want to go along with Brad's scheme. She even tells him that she hates him.
Victor and Nikki remember New Year's Eves that they've shared in the past, replete with big '80s hair. They look at each other sadly. Victor tells Nikki that he will forgive her debt completely if she gets rid of this David Chow fellow. This sounds like an ultimatum to me. I doubt that Nikki will take to it kindly.
We return from the commercial break to find that indeed Nikki is furious with Victor's gall.
Brad, alone at the bar, calls Sharon's cell. She doesn't answer, so he leaves a voicemail. Instead of talking to Brad, Sharon and Nick reminisce by candlelight about the night Noah was born. I always wonder how everyone on TV shows has an endless supply of candles whenever there is a blackout. If my power went off today, I might have a half-burned birthday candle lying around to light.
Ashley contemplates a snowglobe and remembers when her father was alive. She and Jack reassure each other that they will both find what they are looking for. He gives his sister a hug as his father's ghost looks on, smiling.
Phyllis calls home to tell Nick that she can't make it home and will be staying at the club for the night. She informs Nick that Brad is waiting like a vulture to swoop in and take Sharon away as soon as she leaves Jack.
Ashley leaves the room to call Abby, and John Abbott's ghost (Jerry Douglas) asks Jack to consider what Ashley said about Gloria. Jack is still unwilling to hand over half of his father's estate to the woman he hates the most, but John tells him to let it go and focus on fixing his own life.
Nick sets Sharon up on the sofabed to sleep when Noah creeps downstairs. He had a bad dream and wants to stay with his mom. He climbs into bed next to Sharon and asks Nick to stay downstairs until he falls asleep.
Nikki reads Victoria (
Amelia Heinle) a poem while downstairs, Victor pores over old photo albums.
Nikki has fallen asleep on the chair next to Victoria's bed. She wakes up, kisses her daughter on the forehead, and goes downstairs to see that Victor is giving her the cold shoulder. She gathers her things and leaves, telling him that she'll pack up her things and leave within the next few days. He doesn't even look up from his newspaper, however. Oh, Victor! Your pride will be the end of you!
At the tack house, Nick comes downstairs to find that Phyllis has come home and Sharon and Noah have gone home. Sharon and Noah tiptoe into their house. Jack walks into the room and is surprised to see his wife back. She walks over to him and gives him a hug and says that she's back.
Next on
