The Young and the Restless will have a rocking Valentine's Day as singer Pat Benatar heads to Genoa City to perform at Indigo. The 55-year-old vocalist will perform “Every Time I Fall Back,” which first appeared on her 1993 album “Gravity's Rainbow.”
Benatar wrote the song with her husband and lead guitarist Neil “Spyder” Giraldo, who is also slated to appear on the set of the long-running soap. The pair stopped by the soap's California studios on January 24 to tape two episodes.
One of the he top female rockers of the 1980s to early 1990s, Benatar has earned numerous recognitions and awards for her multi-million selling records worldwide. She is known for hits like "Heartbreaker," “In the Heat of the Night” and "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," just to name a few.
Gracing the episodes scheduled on Thursday, February 14 and Friday, February 15, Benatar will be appearing on the canvass as herself at Indigo, as jazz club owner Neil Winters (
Kristoff St. John) surprises his girlfriend Karen Taylor (Nia Peeples) and introduces her to Benatar and Giraldo.
Meanwhile, Benatar's appearance will not be limited to just singing. She will also get to test out her acting chops. In
The Young and the Restless' current storylines, Neil has been trying to convince his girlfriend, Karen, to sing at Indigo. However, she suffers from stage fright. Neil arranges some kind of master class to help Karen overcome her stage fright in which Benatar helps her come out of her shell so she can sing in front of a crowd. Subsequently, Karen will be singing an original song created especially for
The Young and the Restless called “For All Time.”
Ironically, Peeples is considered as an experienced singer off-camera. In fact, she has released several albums in the late-1980s and early 1990s and has scored a number 1 hit on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chat with the song "Trouble."
