After tapping into sitcoms like How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men, Grammy Award-winning recording artist Enrique Iglesias will soon be making his soap debut.  On Wednesday, November 7, he'll be appearing as himself on The Young and the Restless to perform “Somebody's Me,” the second single from his new album, Insomniac.

One of the biggest-selling Spanish musical artists in the world, Iglesias has already graced several TV sitcoms and musical comedies but admits to being a fan of the Young and the Restless.  In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, he describes his stint on the show as a fun experience as he got to meet some of the cast members of the long-running soap.

“I TiVo it on a daily basis and repeat the same show.  I'm one of those obsessive fans,” Iglesias told Soap Opera Digest.

Like other musical artists who have performed their singles on TV series, Iglesias has grabbed on the opportunity to promote his music on the soap.  But unlike other singers who usually lip-sync, the 32-year-old Latin heartthrob performed his single live.

“The music industry is going through a very difficult time right now and has changed so much that you need different outlets to put your music out there.  You truly do,” he said.

While he continues to pursue his music career, Iglesias would also like to immerse himself in acting.

“Oh, yeah.  I love film.  When I have days off, I go to the movies.  I love analyzing them.  I think [acting] started the same way as with my music, from a fan perspective.  I did a small role on Once Upon a Time in Mexico.  I want to do things like that ... and sitcoms,” he revealed.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
