In order to accommodate the nation's insatiable needs for MLB playoffs and X Factor USA auditions, FOX has elected to delay delivery on another of America's most ardent addictions: Zooey Deschanel.

The Futon Critic reports that FOX has pulled two new episodes of New Girl from its Tuesday night schedule, originally set to air October 18 and 25, to make way for The X Factor, which will move from its current two-hour, two-night Wednesday/Thursday spots to Tuesdays for those two weeks because of the baseball playoffs.

The October 18 New Girl episode was set to follow a special 90-minute edition of The X Factor at 9:30pm, but the network will instead expand X Factor to two hours.

New Girl, which got a full-season pickup from FOX, will return to its Tuesday night slot on November 1, and X Factor will return to its Wednesday/Thursday slots on November 2. Starting that week, the Wednesday X Factor episodes will be two-hour live performance shows, and the Thursday episodes will be one-hour live results shows through November. Then, the current schedule says the performance shows will shorten to 1.5 hours.

On the bright side for New Girl fans in need of a fix, X Factor certainly has its share of awkwardness and embarrassing singing. Though the effect is quite different when those moments are unscripted and unintentional.
