Fast Times is a 1982 coming-of-age teen comedy that chronicles the lives of several freshmen who counsel their younger counterparts in matters of the heart. The movie included appearances by several actors who would later become big stars, such as Nicolas Cage, Sean Penn, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Forest Whitaker, and Phoebe Cates.

The Ice Storm is a 1997 drama directed by Ang Lee that follows two dysfunctional suburban Connecticut families with a story fraught with the upheavals of the '70s. As a result, they resort to escapism through alcohol, adultery, and sexual experimentation. The ensemble cast includes Kevin Kline, Joan Allen, Tobey McGuire, Christina Ricci, Elijah Wood, and Sigourney Weaver.

The Wonder Years explored the current social and historical issues of the age through the eyes of teenager Kevin Arnold (Savage), while dealing with dealing with quintessential teenage issues, like love, friends, and family. After only six episodes, it won an Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series in 1988, while Savage earned the distinction of being the youngest actor to ever get a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor for a Comedy Series.
