African-American actor Wendell Pierce was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 8, 1962. Wendell is best known for his role as the loyal and vulgar-mouthed Detective Bunk Moreland on HBO's critically-acclaimed police drama, The Wire. William Moreland, who is also called "Bunk," is a Baltimore homicide detective. He was Jimmy McNulty's partner before he got assigned to another detail. Educated in West Baltimore, Bunk likes to dress in pinstripe suits and is very fond of cigars. His dapper appearance is in contrast to his constant use of profanity when speaking; he is known to make witty and vulgar remarks during investigations. He and Jimmy are the best of buddies; the difference is that Bunk does not have any problems with insubordination.
