The Wire

-Drama The Wire is a sprawling urban police drama, set in the mean streets of a drug-riddled Baltimore where the cycle of misery and poverty is hopeless and detectives do their best to stay ahead and grapple with the situation they're given. The Wire has the benefit of being on HBO and can, as a result, be as graphic in nature as it wants to be.

Biography

Aidan Gillen was born on April 24, 1968 in Dublin, Ireland. This Irish thespian started to work professionally during the 80s, appearing in minor roles in The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne and The Courier. In the 90s, he worked steadily with diverse roles in film and TV, until he got his breakthrough role in Channel 4 UK's Queer as Folk. In the British TV series, Aidan plays the arrogant and sexy PR executive Stuart Alan Jones. His success in the show translated to more film offerings such as The Low Down. He is currently cast in the critically-acclaimed HBO series The Wire.

Thomas "Tommy" Carcetti is a councilman in Baltimore. Ambition is his middle name; he will do everything that he can in order to oust Mayor Clarence Royce and take over the mayoralty. His desire to improve the living conditions in his city is overtaken by his immense thirst for power.
